Lexus Releases First Official Shot of the New LS

After two photos were leaked onto a Chinese website yesterday, Lexus was quick to respond by officially showing off a (low quality) picture of their all-new LS. As we were expecting, yesterday’s photos weren’t fake and the official shot completes our 360 degree view of the car.

Do we like it? Well, we do like the mean grille with its menacing shape and aggressive headlights. However, the side profile of the car, as well as the rear leave a lot to be desired. It may look OK now, but Mercedes-Benz will soon be launching the all-new S-Class, a car which will probably redefine the class (as it usually does, each time a new version is launched).

The S-Class will have curves and flowing lines, whereas the Lexus is much too slab-sided to to win us over with its design. It is an improvement over the old car, but we say they could have done a lot more with this and we admit to being partially disappointed, as we were expecting more.

For example, the difference between the old and rather bland-looking GS and the new car, especially, in F Sport trim, is huge - in a good way. However, the new LS’ understated and conventional shape will have its fans, and the car will sell - just not to car enthusiasts, but rather business men and corporate types.
