When Lexus introduced the RC, the Japanese luxury automaker designed it as something more. But the sales volume tells otherwise, with Lexus playing second fiddle to the Audi A5 Coupe, BMW 4 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe.

Revealed ahead of its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October, the luxury sports coupe is gifted with “the svelte design language of the LC.”
Described as “even sharper” and “more refined” than the pre-facelift, the 2019 Lexus RC integrates the LED daytime running lights in the headlight clusters. The more aggressive front bumper design features a different mesh pattern for the spindle grille. Moving on to the rear, the air ducts at the extremities of the bumper are both show and go.
Just like the headlights, the taillight clusters now incorporate the L-shaped graphic that identifies the RC as a through-and-through Lexus product. Opt for the F Sport package, and in come 19-inch alloy wheels inspired by the LC and LS.
Bringing the point of luxury home, the cabin of the 2019 Lexus RC features the analog clock of the LC and Hairline. What the hell is that, you’re asking? “A higher sense of quality” to the heater control panel and audio panel, apparently, though we still don’t understand what the automaker is on about.
For those who prefer more palpable wording, Lexus is much obliged to offer previously unavailable ornamentation options. Customers can choose between five trim types, including real aluminum Naguri and Dark Gray Hairline on the RC F Sport.
In a similar fashion to the LC Yellow Edition, Mustard Yellow and Ocher have been added to the color palette of the RC. Last, but certainly not least, “the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine has also been enhanced to deliver a more direct feeling of acceleration.”
Expect to see the facelifted RC at dealers in Japan by year’s end, with sales scheduled to begin in the Land of the Rising Sun this fall.
