Up until now, we had only rumors about the new Lexus RC coming with a big V8 under the hood. We know for sure it will come with the 2.5-liter hybrid and a 3.5 V6, while the V8 was never confirmed.
However, spyshots showing the RC wearing stacked quad exhausts and sounding like a V8 hinted it may come with such an option. Now, the fact gets confirmed as Lexus registered a “RC 500 F” trademark in Canada, totally hinting at the 2UR-GSE 5-liter V8.

According to My.IS moderator k3vo, Lexus filed for the RC 500 F trademark in Canada because the standard RC F was conflicting with another trademark. Apparently, they already have and RCF name registered which covers products like "Automotive lubricants for terrestrial and marine vehicles; automobile parts; automotive parts for terrestrial and marine vehicles.”

Putting a space between RC and F was not enough so Lexus decided to registered it by adding the engine code 500. Of course, they could’ve used the already known RC 300h, but if this didn’t happen, it means that the RC could be available only with a 5-liter engine in Canada.
