The Lexus CT just received a facelift, but will that alone make is sale again? Maybe a second powertrain will do it.
Speaking with Motoring.co.uk, one of Lexus’ most senior global executives said that a CT with a more powerful engine might be on the way.

“I think the CT got a reputation for its handling steering and suspension system. If we had had a second powertrain in that car, I think sure we would have done a lot more volume.”

Currently, the Lexus CT is offered only with the 1.8-liter gasoline-electric hybrid system making 100 kW and 207 Nm of torque. It averages 4.1l/100 km but its sportiness look is not quite matched by the 10 seconds its need to reach 100 km/h from a standstill.

There are two possibilities for another more powerful version - a bigger hybrid or the new 2-liter turbocharged engine that will make debut at this month’s Tokyo Motor Show in the Lexus LF-NX concept.
