Lexus previews some of its future design orientation with the newly revealed LF-NX turbo compact SUV concept we saw at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show along with the RC coupe.
Unlike the RC coupe, which was built to emphasize passion, the LF-NX hints toward a more colder, industrial, precision-built mechanical beauty. This is emphasized by it sharp sculpted exterior, appearing to be carved from a single block of metal.
As Lexus Design Division project manager said “two words sum up the LF-NX’s exterior design - concentrated and sharp.” The designers took out the excess material, leaving an exterior that excellently combines function with sculpted styling.
The characteristic spindle grille on the LF-NX is not resuming at the front end, its upper lines being stretched onto the hood and towards the end of the vehicle to create a powerful diamond shape that emphasizes the crossover’s capabilities.
The interior, on the other hand is based on the human-oriented L-Finesse concept, ditching the sterile mechanical design from the exterior in favor of organic shapes wrapped in soft-touch materials. The combination of brushed metal and leather interweaved with Lexus’ latest technology also makes for a bold and youthful feel.
