The LS occupies a unique spot in the history of Lexus as a brand, besides being their flagship model. As we're sure many of you already know, the LS was the first model developed by Lexus, as the LS 400 variant debuted in September 1989 as a rival for the German trio BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8.
Fast forward a quarter of a century and you'll reach to the present day, where according to a report by Autocar, Lexus is planning to launch a new LS flagship saloon as the brand wants to celebrate 25 years of sales with an anniversary launch.

According to the same source, the new range-topping model could wear a hybrid setup based on a V8 mill good for 535 horsepower.

Moreover, the standard Lexus LS put in motion solely by the all-mighty vee-eight will deliver somewhere around 465 horsepower.

Other than that, official intel on the car is very scarce, but the brand’s European boss Alain Uyttenhoven claimed the LS will be "more emotional" and will keep its position at the top of the range, including its price tag.

This preference for a bold design is not something Lexus developed recently. If you remember, the same official was clear about the fact that Lexus will follow their design path regardless what people say after mixed reactions were triggered by the launch of the LF-SA concept in Geneva.

In other Lexus LS related news, some reports from last year were talking about a possible hydrogen fuel cell powertrain making its way on the new LS, but there was no official response from Lexus.

LS stands for "Luxury Sedan" and if an anniversary Lexus LS is on its way, we expect it to offer Toyota's and Lexus' best-available technologies because their rivals are stronger than ever, especially the S-Class and the 7 Series.
