Lexus LFA Official Details, Photos and Video Released

Taking advantage of the debut of the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, Japanese carmaker Lexus finally revealed the details and photos of one of the most awaited appearances of the year, the LFA (previously known as the LF-A).

The supercar is powered by a 4.8l V8 engine, developing a whopping 553 hp at 8,700 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm, 90 percent of which is available from 3,700 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed automated sequential gearbox, featuring four driving modes and a seven-stage shift-speed selector, allowing for 0.2 second upshift speeds.

The engine propels the LFA from a standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). The great
performance has been made possible not only by using this engine and transmission, but also by making the vehicle from carbon-fiber composite materials. The supercar weighs 1,480 kg (3,260 pounds) has a 48:52 front-end weight distribution.

The driver's comfort is ensured with the help of double wishbone suspensions at the front and a multilink setup in the rear. To bring it to a halt, Lexus used six-piston calipers Brembo carbon ceramic brakes on the front wheels and four-piston ones on the rear.

The production version of the LFA is not quite ready, with the manufacturer expecting to be able to deliver the first LFA by the end of 2010. Still, this doesn't stop Lexus from accepting orders. The LFA is priced at 250,000 euros ($375,000).
