Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition Laps Nordschleife in 7:22.85

Lexus was really busy fielding the racing versions of the CR 200h and LFA under the Gazoo Racing banner. However, just before the weekend of the 35th annual Nurburgring 24 Hour Race, Akira Iida took a production version of the car out on the Nordschleife to see what it can do.

We’re not talking about just any Lexus supercar, but the one equipped with the Nurburgring Package, which boosts output by 10 hp to 562 hp and comes with a number of weight-saving features. Gazoo Racing’s driver managed to clock an impressive 7:22.85 putting it in 10th place for the fastest production vehicle to attack the extreme circuit, just behind the 2012 Corvette Z06 and ahead of the time set last year by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.

According to LexusEnthusiasts.com this video was on display at the Nürburgring 24h race alongside the LFA Nurburgring Edition. Furthermore, the lap in the video was carried out for exhibition purposes only. The supercar will be tickled and played with to make an official run in a few months’ time, so we can expect the LFA to drop a few seconds off its lap.

We’ll remind you that the Nurburgring Package, first announced in March 2010, includes a series of improvements to the LFA to make it a more track-oriented car.  Those who purchase the package also get 'Ring driving lessons, and a one year pass on the course.

A number of little changes have lead to a 0-100 km/h 62 mph) sprint of 3.7 seconds, but the top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph) remains the same.  The car also gets a 10mm drop in ride height, and a retuned suspension.

The Japanese carmaker will only make 50 suck kits, which means only 10 percent of all LFAs will own the Nurburgring Package.
