Lexus LFA Gets Manhandled for Autocross, V10 Drifting Ensues

With Lexus having built only 500 units of the LFA, this carbon fiber, V10 marvel of Japanese engineering is one of the last vehicles you’d expect to spot at an autocross event.

After all, who would want to subject their $370k plus machine to a drive in a parking lot loaded with cones? Well, the driver in the video below might have an answer for us.

The man decided to take his LFA to an autocross challenge (the story happened back in 2012, but that is of lesser importance) and, as you can expect, a rather intense set of maneuvers followed.

We have to applaud the man for getting his kicks in such a manner and we’ll mention a few reasons why this is true.

First of all, the guy clearly knows what he’s doing. While showing little mercy for the rear tires, he manhandles the LFA through the course. As it usually happens with autocross “tracks,” the mix between the extremely tight sections and those that allow sideway shenanigans is delicious.

As strange as it may sound, the Lexus LFA was built for this kind of hooning. You see, on paper, the performance of the machine, whose atmospheric V10 delivers 560 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of twist, doesn’t justify its price.

However, this is the exact opposite of the performance a Tesla offers, for instance. Lexus built this car as an ode to the engineering god and it all shows once you get behind the wheel, with the level of precision and driver communication rivaling the experience you can get in a racecar.

Given the exclusivity factor that also backs up the price of the LFA, we have seen owners who treat their cars as if they were garage floor decorations. And that’s downright sad. Unlike the things that are shown in the footage below.
