Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced that its Gazoo Racing team will enter three vehicles in the 42nd 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance race that will be held in Germany between 19-22 June.
Race versions of the Lexus LFA and Toyota GT 86 will take part in the endurance race along with a new enhanced sportscar research vehicle based on the LFA, known under the name of Gazoo Racing Lexus LFA Code X.
The special LFA Code X has been created to enable study of future sports car technologies. Compared to the LFA’s standard 4.8-liter V10 engine, the Code X engine displacement’s has been increased to 5.3-liters and system output has been fine-tuned to better suit the Nurburgring track. Other elements include a full carbon frame body to increase rigidity while reducing weight.
Gazoo Racing plans to let Akira Iida, Juichi Wakisaka and Takuto Iguchi to drive the LFA Code X.
