Lexus IS-F Gets Euro 5 Engine

Every tough guy has a well-hidden sensible side and it seems like this is also true for a vehicle that likes to accelerate and drift like there's no tomorrow, the Lexus IS-F.

The Japanese saloon that enjoys challenging German Power War fighters will receive an eco-orientated engine upgraded for the 2011 model year. Don’t worry, the IS-F won’t become a hybrid or get useless tree-hugging features, but will see its powerplant surrendering to the Euro V emission standards.

Fortunately, this doesn’t mean that the naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 unit will lose its strength. The engine will keep its current 423 hp power rating. This means that the saloon will still be able to leave the 62 mph mark behind in 4.8 seconds and take its passenger to an electronically limited top speed of 168 mph.

As we previously reported, the vehicle will also receive other modifications for the 2011 model year. The car’s will come with modified headlights that feature LED daytime running lights and new exterior colors. More importantly, the power will be sent to the rear wheels via a tweaked limited-slip differential, with Lexus claiming that the vehicle’s cornering abilities will be improved through this feature.

The facelift also targets the interior of the IS-F. The extreme saloon will offer a new instrument panel, which will see the rev-counter taking the center place (this currently goes to the speedometer). The trimming will also be updated, coming with dark-silver accents, while the front seats will offer improved lateral support.
