The Lexus IS-F powerwar fighter saloon has received a facelift for the UK market and now features improved handling, new gadgets and an upgraded interior (this comes as an option).
The most important new feature is a re-engineered limited slip differential. This is a torsen unit that now handles the 5.0 liter V8 powerpant’s 423 hp and 372.4 lb-ft ( 505 Nm) of torque. The supersaloon’s straight line performance has remained unchanged, so the car still reaches 62 mph in 4.8 seconds and goes on to an electronically limited top speed of 168 mph. However, Lexus says that test performed on the Fuji International Speedway show a two second advantage for the new version.
The car now rides on a new set of 19 inch alloy rims that feature a new mesh design. These replace the old wheels that featured a 10-spoke design.
The IS-F now offers a new satellite navigation system, which uses a 40 GB hard drive, features full map coverage in Europe and offers automatic links to local traffic information data. It uses a “sound library” function that allows users to store tracks from audio CDs on a 10 GB reserved space. The car’s entertainment system, the 14 speaker Mark Levinson 5.1 surround system can now receive DAB digital broadcasts and features an auxiliary USB port, which enables passengers to connect external music players.
Lexus also offers an optional interior finish package that replaces the standard black leather finish with a white leather one, giving the car an even more distinct feel.
The facelifted Lexus IS-F is already on sale and can be purchased for $74,212 (55,595 pounds).
