The German Power War is getting more and more bloody with every new generation of RS, M or AMG vehicle, but, as you know the Japanese have joined the fight too. Now, it seems that Lexus is preparing a new soldier, in the form of a performance version of the 2013 Lexus GS.
The Japanese automotive producer hinted that it could offer a GS F, just like it did with the IS F, as Inside Line reports. It seems that Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda told journalists at a recent meeting that f models are included in Lexus’ future development plans.
"I want Lexus to be the brand chosen by the most sophisticated of drivers," the executive was quoted as saying by the aforementioned source. "I want Lexus to compete around the world with global Lexus models. And don't worry about high-performance Lexuses like F Sport and F models going away."
There have been earlier unofficial reports that showed Lexus was working on a GS F model. It seems that the company could choose a more exclusive pathway for the vehicle, as this would get a supercharged version of the V8 powerplant of the IS F.
In it’s naturally aspirated form, the engine delivers 414 hp, so we should get somewhere around 550 hp. As for the gearbox, the two aforementioned models will probably share the eight-speed automatic transmission.
What can we say, BMW has recently introduced a new M5, so Lexus has to work hard if it really wants to play with the big boys.
