Lexus GS-F May Get LF-A’s V10

{img align=left}Piston heads from all around the world have been fantasizing about an F version of the Lexus GS ever since rumors speculating its existence appeared about two years ago.

As more and more performance vehicles due to be launched were cancelled or delayed by manufacturers, the wave of enthusiasm seemed to be in vain, with the launch of an M5 rivaling Lexus GS becoming highly improbable.

However, Japan’s Best Car magazine has brought the GS-F perspective back in sight, claiming that Lexus are nearing completion on the project ant that it will be powered by the 4.8 litre V10 unit from the LF-A.

If that happens, then the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E 63 AMG would have some serious competition to fight. But it is these two German rivals of the supposed GS-F that make it a little hard for us to believe that the car will be V10 powered. That’s because both of them are going on a downsizing path: BMW’s next generation will probably ditch the current engine for the twin-turbocharged V8 from the BMW X5/X6 M and the Merc may drop the current unit for a lower capacity forced induction unit.

On the other hand, this core difference could be a huge advantage for the GS-F, providing that the car will be able to translate the naturally aspirated 560 HP and 480 Nm into Teuton-competing performance.
