Lexus GS 350 Leaked Ahead of Pebble Beach Public Debut

Here’s another chance to talk about one of the most important models to be revealed this year, the new Lexus GS, which was spotted completely undisguised. The photos from China Car Time reveal the full body of the upcoming model, which will be revealed this week at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

White might still be one of the ‘it’ colors of the moment, but we have to admit that we’re a bit disappointed with the look of the car in this particular shade. The front end looks less revolutionary than ever and has more than a passing resembles to the CT 200h. That fantastically huge grille we saw in the teaser photo last week becomes unnoticeable, while those tiny vents next to the foglight are less than impressive.

Also, the lights look much better on the concept and there’s not enough high-end feel to the design.

At the back, the chrome strip now links the two lights together, a feature that, in combination with the lines of the boot, make it look a bit like the 2012 Hyundai Sonata.

“Our customers have been waiting for a new GS that’s more intense in every way,”
said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “They’ll soon discover this GS was well worth the wait.”

In addition to the styling cues, Lexus promises a, “more engaging and dynamic driving experience and the highest levels of refinement.” Let’s hope they get this part right!

The 2012 Lexus GS350 luxury sedan will debut on Thursday, August 18th. We’ll bring you more details when they become available.
