Lexus Gives NX Compact Crossover Sneak Peek Before Debut

Lexus Gives NX Compact Crossover Sneak Peek Before Debut 1 photo
Our concerns about the production Lexus NX’s design have starting to fade out, as the luxury automaker decided to show us a bit of the final car ahead of its official unveil at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
We were very afraid that the final model won’t share too many lines with the LF-NX concept but as this picture shows it’s pretty much the same - wide spindle grille, thin three-piece LED headlight assemblies, big L-shaped daytime running lights, flared fenders and sharp angles on the sides of the body. Stunning! We’re glad the automaker didn’t lied when it said the final version retains the concepts lines, unlike others who end up coming with a car that looks like the old model with new bumpers and lights.

The new NX model will mark Lexus’ entrance into the growing premium compact crossovers segment and it will be positioned bellow the RX model in the range.

Rumors tell that the NX will arrive on the UK market this October and the entry-level model will have a price tag of around £30,000. The interior is also said to borrow much of the design found in the new IS sports sedan, while under the hood you can either have a 178 bhp (180 hp) 2.5-liter hybrid with the electric motor turning the rear wheels, or the newly-developed 2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that will make probably around 270 bhp (273 hp). The automaker said the new turbocharged engine will replicate the performances offered by the previous 3.5-liter V6, but consuming and emitting less, so a power output of at least 250 hp seems appropriate.
