Lexus Driver Gets Distracted by Luxury Dash - Hits a Tractor

Starring too much at a Lexus dashboard can be deadly. And I’m not necessarily trying to metaphorically speak about how beautifully crafted the automaker’s interiors are.

Roth Yates, 47, of Panama City Beach, was driving northbound on US 231 on the outside lane in his Lexus RX 350. All was great until the car smashed into a tractor ahead that was moving much slower, which he failed to observe.

The report says that Yates became distracted by some of the vehicle’s onboard features and failed to see the tractor, which was said to have all the necessary precautionary signage and lights. Both drivers escaped unharmed, but the tractor suffered a $100,000 damage, while the Lexus got only around $10,000.

So, here a little piece of advice if you just got your first new Lexus - admire and get accustomed with all the dashboard’s features before you start driving and always use the steering wheel-mounted shortcuts (if available) to activate or change different settings.
