Lexus Developing Its Version of the Toyota Prius C

The Toyota Prius is now a family, not just a model and it seems that they’re about to get a new member, this time coming from sister brand Lexus. Lexus is considering building its own version of the new Prius c, as Paultan writes. The vehicle would be slotted under the CT200h. Speaking of the CT, if the new model offers the same blend between efficiency and fun handling, it should be a success.

The aforementioned source claims that there are two potential hybrid powertrains for the car. One would be a modified version of the Prius c’s 1.5-liter Hybrid Synergy Drive, while the other would include a 1.2-liter, direct-injected, turbocharged unit.

As for the designation of the new model, things are pretty vague at the moment and the only bet we can make is that the name will include an “h”, just like in the case of every hybrid Lexus vehicle.
