Lexus CT 200h Gets Soundtracks

OST, they call them, and they usually apply to movies, plays and such. But who says that a car can't have its own soundtrack? Probably no one, since the Japanese from Toyota announced this week yet another innovative way to advertise the Lexus CT 200h: the CT Remixed.

Taking advantage of the new channels of communications at its disposal, Toyota brought together a series of DJs and producers (LA Riots, Dave Aude, Dummy Boy Rick and Bones Domingo), who came up with the tracks that will be made famous by rapper Najee.

The soundtrack will be made available through all the modern-day entertainment tools, starting from smartphones and ending with the home entertainment system (the tracks will be available on iTunes, Amazon mp3, Zoon, emusic, thumbplay and Nokia). In addition, the DJs themselves will get their hands on the tracks created for the campaign, to give them a bit more color during special events.

“One of the key goals was to reach young consumers with a soundtrack that would resonate with their musical tastes,” said Dave Nordstrom, Lexus vice president of marketing. “We reached out to the top writers, producers and remixers in the industry and asked them for music that reflects what is happening in today's musical scene.”

Presented at the Paris Auto Show last year, the CT 200h is powered by the Lexus Hybrid Drive (an Atkinson cycle 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine and a powerful electric motor with a combined output of 134 bhp). In the US, the model retails for prices starting at $29,120.

Before we end the story, we have to tell you that we've recently decided to take the CT 200h for a spin. You'll find the result in our test drive section soon.
