Lexus and Toyota vehicles are known to retain much of their value even after 50,000 km (31,000 miles) and this mostly happens because they are properly built and will last for a lifetime. We heard of at least a Prius hybrid going well over 500,000 by only doing the periodic maintenance and the model is only one example of reliability.
The Prius luxury version Lexus CT 200h is also a good example of impeccable engineering and outstanding reliability. Basically, the CT is a business class Prius, wearing the same hybrid engine and running gear as the iconic greener, but with added luxury, comfort, technology and interior tranquility, a Lexus trademark if you think.
German Auto Bild publication recently took a Lexus CT 200h on an endurance test drive, aimed to determine just how fault-proof this hybrid is. Their way was to drive the vehicle for 100,000 km (62,137 miles) and the take the whole car apart to assess the wear.
As you would expect, the car did its job perfectly and the only thing they done to it was to change the oil and brake pads. There were some wears and tears here and there but nothing big at the end of the test - a broken interior door handle, some cracks in the leather seats, the dipstick seal failed and there were some oil leaks and that’s pretty much it.
