Lexus has now confirmed that the LFA with the Nurburgring Package has lapped the Nordschleife in a blistering 7:14.64, releasing a video of the fantastic run.The vehicle was manhandled by Akira Iida, with the car talking to the road via the Nurburgring Package’s standard Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires.
Those time brings a multitude of victories. The most obvious one is the mathematical one, which puts the car at the top of the also-usable-for-shopping-even-though-not-perfect-for-the-job (you don’t want to know how many corners of the ‘Ring it can tackle while you read this), beating enemies such as the Porsche 911 GT2 RS (7:18), Corvette ZR-1 (7:19.63) and the Nissan GT-R (7:24).
Then, we’re pretty sure that this is what Lexus’ Chief Test Driver, Hiromu Naruse, who died behind the wheel of the car one year ago near the Nurburging, would’ve wanted.
And last but not least, we’ll tell you a little story. We were talking to a Lexus salesman earlier this year, and, since he had never got to meet an LFA, he asked us for help regarding what makes the car so special. He had been asked this question by a customer and didn’t quite know what to answer as, on paper, it doesn’t seem that you get enough performance for the money. At the time, besides exclusivity, which was his answer for the client, we explained him that this is an engineering masterpiece with a complex manufacturing process. Now, we have the result of all those words....
