Lexus Celebrating 20 Years of Presence in the UK

Lexus is celebrating 20 years of activity on the British market. The company reminds us how in 1990 it was coming to Britain as a new luxury brand from Toyota, which only offered the LS 400 saloon, which offered a 4.0 liter V8 engine.

The company started out in UK life with many questions, such as “Could it cut the mustard against the established European prestige marques?”. Now, the automotive producers feels confident, being pleased with its place on the premium market scene.

The current Lexus UK range includes four mainstream models: the IS, GS and LS saloons & the RX SUV, as well as the high-performance IS-F and the hyper-exclusive LFA supercar.

The company has also focused on offering top services for its customers, with Lexus stating that “no automotive brand delivers better service to its customers, according to the independent annual UK customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power and Associates, in which Lexus’s status as the top ranked manufacturer has been unchallenged for the past 10 years.

Another direction followed by the company is that of eco vehicles. The brand introduced its first hybrid vehicle in 2005, in the form of the RX 400 hybrid. The carmaker currently offers hybrid powertrains for the RX, GS and LS models. Next year, these will be joined by the CT 200h, a compact segment player.

Lexus’s product development will enter an important new phase early in 2011 with the launch of the full hybrid CT 200h, its first model for the luxury small car segment. Although positioned as the gateway to the Lexus range, it has been designed in detail to deliver sporty ride and handling performance, combined with emissions and fuel economy benefits of the Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain,” stated the press release.
