Some people out there are such big fans of the Back to the Future trilogy they built the time machine out of all sorts of cars, including a highly modified monster truck. But no matter how many memorabilia they’d make, nothing truly compares with the Hoverboard. It’s no wonder the entire world is waiting for an official release date of Lexus’ real life levitating board.
And that date apparently is set for August 5th; that’s when the world will finally see the marvelous, yet mysterious piece of technology up and running. Well, flying to be more precise. In fact, it’s not even flying what this skateboard (that seems like it's coming from another advanced civilization) does.

Back in June, when the luxury division of the Japanese automaker announced it for the first time, they said the Lexus Hoverboards use magnetic levitation to achieve incredible frictionless movement. Yes, we’re talking about Marty McFly madness actually happening. Liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors, and permanent magnets combine to allow the engineers to create the impossible.

Since we are talking about an ultimate product developed by a premium carmaker, the design is of utmost importance. The Hoverboard - or Slide how Lexus named it - features the company’s spindle grille signature shape, using materials found in the luxury car brand, from the high tech to the natural bamboo.

According to its creators, the long expected levitating board will be out there soon, and all the fans interested in staying in tune can just use the #LexusHover tag.

“When technology, design and imagination come together amazing things can be achieved. The Lexus Hoverboard represents true engineering innovation and can be seen in action soon,” said the Japanese automaker. Well, now we know what we’re doing next week on the 5th.
