Our touch sense is responsible for feeling and communicating with the world we see and hear, it assures us that what we see is real. Another important function for it is that it can guide us in recognizing patterns when we are not able to see.
For example, when you are driving and you want to keep your eyes on the road ahead but also want to lower the radio volume, you can tell if you grabbed the right knob on the dash just by touching it. The brain is indexing everything you touch so you can identify it later without looking at it.
That’s why a proper car-human interface is important and the new Lexus Remote Touch Interface promises to be even more easy and intuitive to use. It will function pretty much like a laptop touchpad but with an added tactile feedback so you can tell exactly over what features are you scrolling or clicking.
