This Sunday’s F1 Grand Prix, held around the Monza circuit in Italy, was won by McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton, who fought off Sauber-Ferrari driver Sergio Perez up until the last lap. Felipe Massa was also off to a great start, and immediately passed Jenson Button’s McLaren, and started putting pressure on Hamilton right from the start. Button overtook Massa just before having to pit, only for Button to be forced to retire after his car was diagnosed with a fuel pressure problem.

With Button out of the race, Massa was back up in second place, only to fall back to fourth by the end of the race - some 30 seconds behind the leader. Michael Schumacher managed to finish sixth, just ahead of team mate Nico Rosberg, who was followed by Paul di Resta, Kamui Kobayashi and Bruno Senna.

Now, Alsonso’s third place finish helps him increase his lead in the drivers’ championship, where he is followed by Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber and Jenson Button. Red Bull leads the constructors’ standings, with 272 points - 29 more than McLaren and 46 more than Ferrari.
