Lewis Hamilton to Appoint Manager Soon

Lewis Hamilton had a troubled season last year, on and off the track, and many related this state of affairs with the fact that he didn't benefit from the services of a manager. Shortly before the start of the 2010 campaign, he and father/manager Anthony announced split, with the 2008 champion being represented from that point onwards by his McLaren team.

After several months during which a bunch of F1 figures have offered their services to Ham, the British driver finally seems to have come close to a decision. And in a few weeks time, he admitted he might share to the world the name of his new manager.

Well I have a couple of candidates and I am just trying to decide which one. I'll let you know when I decide,” Hamilton told the media in Valencia, when asked about who his manager will be in 2011.

Through the 2010 campaign, Martin Brundle and Mika Hakkinen were both linked with the job, but neither is believed to be in pole position for the time being. Instead, according to a report from the GMM news agency, it seems that several agencies are close to signing a representation deal with Hamilton, including 19 Entertainment, IMG and Creative Artists Agency.

I'm hoping that in the next couple of weeks I will be able to let you know what is going on,” Ham added. “It is going to be positive and it won't distract me from my job and just certain things will be taken care of a lot better than when I was looking after myself!

If Hamilton is still looking to make that decision in a few weeks time, his father Anthony will undoubtedly make his return to the F1 paddock this year, as he's championing UK's “new kid on the block” Paul di Resta.

Well he [Anthony] has done a fantastic job to get Paul [di Resta] in and clearly he is very gifted at getting drives for Paul, which is fantastic,” said Hamilton, referring to his father's being in some other garage than McLaren's. "[My dad] is going to be coming to work and support Paul but obviously he is my dad, so naturally he will be up and down [the pitlane], but things are going very well with him.”
