Lewis Hamilton won the 2014 Formula One World Championship after finishing first in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. His step mother was there, as was Prince Harry himself who called him a “legend”, but nothing made the champ feel better than having girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger compliment him with a kiss and a warm hug.
With an average speed of 184.982 mph (297.821 km/h) and a time/leg of 1:39:02.619 Lewis Hamilton literally stormed the finish line at this year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, becoming the F1 champion. The win makes him the first British double champion since Sir Jackie Stewart won his second title in 1971.
“Lewis thank you very, very much for not making the British public sweat. You are an absolute legend. Well done mate”, was Prince Harry’s message sent on the Mercedes team radio after the race ended. The 29-year old F1 champ also had his step mother and his entire Mercedes F1 team congratulating him for a faultless performance, as the bottles of champagne kept popping.
It also was quite the emotional venture with the champ’s on-again, off-again girlfriend singer Nicole Scherzinger, who burst into tears the moment Hamilton finished the race first. She even kissed her boo straight on the helmet as the F1 driver would receive his congrats from the team and fans waiting on the side.
“Congratulations babe for winning the 2014 F1 World Championship!!! I’m sooooo proud of you!!”, the former lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls band wrote on her Facebook after the Abu Dhabi race.

Nico Rosberg kept it fairplay
Meanwhile, Nico Rosberg had to keep it all fairplay and leave his bad luck behind, considering he struggled with mechanical problems and finished 14th place.
