Lewis Hamilton Receives Mercedes-Maybach S600, Of Course, He Does

When you’re the two-time Formula One World Champion driving for Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team, you don’t buy a new car, you receive one. It’s called product placement, and you have to be famous to get some of that.
So, yes, Lewis Hamilton’s new ride is the one, the only Mercedes-Maybach S600 - for now. For a fellow that plays around with the world’s premieres such as the freshly received Ferrari LaFerrari or the older Koenigsegg, Pagani Zonda, McLaren P1 and so many other beauties, this is more like a joke. One expensive ludicrous situation, though, considering you can’t even start talking about such a car without about $190,000 in your hand.

Daimler has brought Maybach back from the grave as an eccentric sub-brand of the Mercedes lineup, with each of the units they make representing advanced luxury. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is here to fight the likes of Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost, so it’s not exactly what you’d call a laugh.

Will the 6.0-liter biturbo V-12 engine running by a 7-speed automatic transmission feed Hamilton’s eagerness for an F1 experience on the road? Most likely not, but it will still make for a hell of a ride. How does 523 horsepower and a 5-second sprint from the 0 to 60 mph sound to you?

However, like any other exclusive breed of the kind, the accent is put on the high-end features, such as the S600’s cabin that is full of advanced technology. Luxury is not ignoring design and style. Nappa leather is hand-tailored and artfully top-stitched to virtually every surface, including the headliner and seat consoles.

And we haven’t even mentioned the vehicle’s length. With its body extended by 8 inches, the 2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600 brings elegance, style and grace in any car assembly. Add the taut body lines, tight tolerances and LED illumination and you get the big picture.

Getting back to Hamilton’s new whip, some may consider the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 he also posed with a while ago more appropriate, but we think the S600 will do the job.
