Lewis Hamilton May Make the Switch to Mercedes for 2013 F1 Season

Sources say that Lewis Hamilton is now linked with a surprising switch from his current team, McLaren, to Mercedes, as of the 2013 F1 Season. The information comes form former head of the team, Eddie Jordan, who claims that Hamilton and the German team have already agreed to the move verbally, and that an official deal is imminent.

Jordan said "I believe Hamilton and Mercedes have already agreed personal terms and a deal could be imminent. Negotiations between Lewis Hamilton and McLaren continue. It would appear Michael [Schumacher] is leaving and Lewis is arriving at Mercedes."

Now, McLaren is denying the story - one of their spokesmen told Autosport.com: "We have been told by Lewis Hamilton's management team that the story is untrue." However, just ‘being told’ something doesn’t really mean a great deal at the level at which F1 is right now, so until Mercedes has Lewis’ signature, it’s all just speculation.

Hamilton’s management team, XIX Entertainment, have been speaking to all the big teams, including Mercedes and Ferrari, yet since Fernando Alonso still drives for the Italian team, and considering Hamilton’s history with Alonso, while they were team mates, a move to Ferrari is very unlikely.

Furthermore, since Hamilton revealed ‘team secrets’ on his Twitter account, not long ago, the relationship between him and the team is definitely strained, so his decision to switch would be understandable, at this point.
