We stopped believing in “this is the last Zonda ever made” a long time ago and we’re now back with a new proof that despite the fact that Pagani is handling the Huayra these days, they’ll still build one-off Zondas.
The special unit of the Zonda you’re looking at belongs to Lewis Hamilton and, as you can see in the adjacent photo, which comes from Jalopnik (you can find more pics in the source article), the F1 star was recently out testing his new baby. The beast comes with 760 hp and a manual gearbox, with the purple color indicating that this is close to the Zonda 750. Let us explain.
The Al-Thani royal family in Qatar ordered a one-off Zonda in 2010, with this being built using the Cinque, which is the road-going version of the Zonda R racer, as a starting point. Thus, the Zonda 750 was supposed to be born, but this never made it to the street and a member ofthe royal family used the Teamspeed forums to explain that the ordered was cancelled due them opting for a Bugatti Grand Sport instead.
Hamilton’s Zonda looks similar to the 750 and comes with custom pieces, such as the rear window, as well as the roof scoop. As for the power, the engine output is the same as that of the most powerful Zonda ever, the 760 RS.
