We've been drooling over the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS since January and the time has come to check out the plastic-fantastic Rennsport Neunelfer in the real world.
With the first units of the mega-toy (this is actually a 1:8 scale model) having now reached their owners, we've brought along a pair of videos that show the living room Porsche.

Thanks to Auto Bild, we can see the plastic brick masterpiece in "action", but we'll start with the unboxing, which can be found in the first clip below.

Since you have to pay $299 for this piece of kit, which has even been included in a Porsche ad, the Danish toymaker has ensured that even the unboxing experience is memorable.

Once you're done with that, be prepared to play with no less than 2,704 pieces. Mind you, while the hue of the car tries to replicate Lava Orange, the GT3 RS launch color, this is unfortunately just LEGO's usual bright Orange.

Regardless, once you're done putting everything together, you should end up with a contraption that measures 22 inches (57 cm) in length, 9 inches (25 cm) in width, and is over 6 inches (17 cm) tall. You can still hug it, though, as you'll be able to see in the second clip below.

Since this is a LEGO Technic creation, the devil is in the mechanical details, with the list being led by the functional PDK. While the complexity of the build meant limiting the gearbox to four ratios, the paddle shifters inside the car are functional - the clicking sounds they make as one uses them to actually change gears will probably tickle your geeky bone, so make sure you hit the "play" buttons below.

Now, you can't just leave such a machine on the floor, so you might want to take the time and build a garage for it.
