It's been scientifically proven (not really, but it should be) that the best gift you can offer a child (or a man, regardless of his age) is a set of Lego. The Danish bricks have taken over the world and are turning everybody into Master Builders.
Even though Lego has no other real competitor on the marked, that doesn't mean its products don't need a little advertising. You know, just to tell everybody what's new and to convince you putting brick over brick is more fun than running people over in Grand Theft Auto V - or whatever ways kids are killing virtual characters these days.

Beside the usual playing sets with knights, spacemen or stuff inspired from the Harry Potter universe, Lego is also heavily invested in building vehicles. And while the classic game can suffer a little from the relatively limited possibilities it offers in this field, there's always the Technic series for when you (wrongly) feel you've outgrown it.

Take a look at the Mercedes-Benz Arocs truck, hold your hand over the Bible and say 'I would not love to build that.' That's the only real difference between somebody aged 10 and somebody over 30: if the youngest is mostly itching to play with the thing, the more mature will enjoy the building part. It's as if you bought a miniature car from IKEA. What is it with the Scandinavians and their affinity toward assembling stuff?

This set here called 'Getaway Racer' is nowhere near as complex as the Arocs truck, but then again it also costs more than ten times less. However, what sets it apart, aside from the fact Lego gave it a name that seems to make bank robberies popular among the children, is the fact the company decided to make a short video about it.

And, guess what, it's quite good. It focuses on the little hot rod's desire to be a champion, be it as a straightforward racer or as a master drifter, and even though the idea isn't all that original, it's very well done and has that air of childhood daydreaming about it. Even though the action happens at night.

The 'Getaway Racer' costs $19 and comes with a set of feats, most important of all being its powerful pull-back motor. No, it's not remote controlled, so you won't really be able to drift it. But Lego has a suggestion on how you could make it more fun: buy the Police Interceptor and recreate a car chasing scene. You know, have the police car flip over, run into street poles or, better yet, get two Police Interceptors and have them crash into each other as the Getaway Racer makes a clean escape. What, they do it in the movies all the time.
