Sure, we are actually just minutes away from the official reveal of the Mercedes-AMG Project One, but thanks to the embargo breach of the Germans from Bild we can give you the first five photos of the model.

Looking way different than what most renderings were implying, at least when it comes to the front end, the first Mercedes-AMG hypercar is almost production ready, albeit the car shown in Frankfurt is a concept.

Only 275 units will be ever built, and rumor has it that all of them have been spoken for even before the Project One's public reveal, despite a hefty $2 million+ price tag.

We don't have the official figures just yet, but Mercedes-AMG says that at least 1,000 horsepower and similar amount of torque can be expected from the downright brutal powertrain that will occupy the middle of the car.

Speaking of which, in case you were just awaken from a rather long coma, the Project One is set to become the first production road car in history to feature a Formula 1 engine. Not based on, but THE actual Mercedes-AMG F1 M08 EQ Power+ unit that is used by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in Formula 1.

Sure, since a 4,000 rpm idle and a 15,000 rpm redline would probably be a handful for most of the model's customers, the engine has been slightly detuned from this perspective, but without producing less power on the whole.

From what we know so far, the road version of the engine will idle at around 2,000 rpm and rev to approximately 11,000 rpm, which still makes it go well past the “insane” threshold.

We are talking about a turbocharged, 1.6-liter V6 that's helped by two electric motors, one attached straight to the crank and the other one in charge of boosting the turbo and thus say goodbye to any type of turbo lag.

Unlike the Formula 1 car, two more electric motors are fitted to the front axle, one for each wheel, making the Project One all-wheel-drive with torque vectoring. The funny bit is that the model will also feature and all-electric driving mode, during which it will become the first ever FWD hypercar, since only the front axle will receive power.

We'll leave you with the leaked photos and the YouTube live reveal link, since Mercedes-Benz will probably deliver a lot more info in around half an hour.
