The facelifted E89 Z4 was revealed last year and showed just a nip and tuck, with no major changes. Since then we had to face an extremely long winter and now it's time to look forward the sunny days of summer.
BMW just released a fresh batch of photos with their roadster just to entice and remind us of the perfectly shaped Z4 and the exclusive character it brings with it.
The current Z4 takes to the stage nearly 25 years after the legendary Z1 was unveiled at the 1987 Frankfurt International Motor Show. It was a car with a revolutionary door concept and a precise and agile handling beginning a new era in the history of BMW roadsters, started by the 328.
The design of its successor, the Z4, is true to the BMW DNA. It has classical proportions infused with modern character. The sweeping bonnet, long wheelbase and low-slung rear make it an instant classic amongst its older and future brothers.
The current Z4 is available with 5 different levels of power. The entry level model, called sDrive18i develops 156 HP from the 2-liter turbocharged engine with a satisfying 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. This specific model comes fitted, as standard, with a six-speed manual gearbox but you can also opt for the ZF 8-speed automatic.
The most powerful Z4 you can get at the moment is the sDrive35is, powered by a N54 turbocharged 3-liter engine with 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. This model comes as standard with the M Sports Package installed, including the M Aerodynamics Package and Adaptive M Sport Suspension.
Starting at $47,950 in the US and €33,950 in Europe, the 2013 LCI E89 Z4 is a best buy if you have the 'Roadster fever' this summer.
