Ludovic Lazareth needs little introduction for the fans of extreme custom bikes, and his latest interpretation of the BMW R1200R theme is yet another spectacular business card.
Commissioned by a client who wanted a "neo-retro" bike, Lazareth's R1200R is half scrambler half cafe-racer, and nothing of the original touring machine, save for the engine and rear suspension. The frame was rebuilt from scrap and it mixes the light weight and cool look of the tubular trellis architecture.
Since the telelever front end was obviously not a part of the future bike, Lazareth sourced an Yamaha R6 fork , which also led to generous 320mm petal rotors and 4-pot calipers. The tank was also custom made to follow in the new lines of the bike and we adore how Lazareth circumvented the classic horizontal cafe-racer attire, while keeping the bike in the retro zone.
The chunky fork received a huge headlight and massive Conti Twinduro shoes. The comprehensive stock dash of the BMW was replaced by hooligan-style bars with bar-en mirrors and a tiny analog speedo. Add in the retro funnel intakes and the aggressive Ixil exhaust and there you go, the neo-retro scrambler!
Not sure about dusty roads and those intakes, though...
