Lava Orange 2017 Porsche 911 R with Green Stripes Is Only For the Open-Minded

Ever since Porsche unveiled its 2017 take on the 911 R formula back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, the Lava Orange stripes on the White debut car polarized people like few other things in the Zuffenhausen realm.

To this day, many point their finger at the overly extrovert stripes of the R. Well, we're here to show you an example of the clutch special that makes the launch color scheme seem... well... restrained.

The 2017 Porsche 911 R we're talking about is dressed in Lava Orange, which was the launch hue of the GT3 RS PDK, mixing this with Green stripes. As for the decals on the side of the 500 hp Porscha, these come in Black, while featuring "Porsche" badging that uses the shade of Green seen on the top stripes.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows us to get a good taste of the limited edition machine (the German automaker is only building 991 examples of the thing, remember?).

Speaking of which, if you're willing to get your hands on such a stick shift 991, we have both good news and bad news. And we'll start with the first: despite the special edition being sold our when it debuted, there are enough vehicles currently on sale.

As for the bad news, this obviously has to do with the speculation market pricing. While this hasn't been confirmed by the German automaker, it seems Porsche offered the possibility to buy a 911 R to anybody who had acquired a 918 Spyder (918 units). Well, it appears many buyers said "yes" only to be ale to flip their Rs for monstrous profit withing the first year of ownership.

Despite the Porsche VIP program aiming to prevent such speculation from taking place, we've shown you numerous Porsche 911 R units for sale. And, before ending this piece, we'll remind you that the most recent example of this kind talked about the car having traded hands for half a million dollars.
