Laugh All You Want, but the Lamboyota URAV4 Is Likely More Reliable Than the Urus

We’ve seen all sorts of Lamborghini Urus copycats from small Chinese companies, and even some based on the Toyota RAV4, like this yellow example.

Meet the Lamboyota URAV4, a weird build shared on Reddit, which tries to bring some of the exotic car flair of the Italian super SUV to the Japanese crossover. Whether it manages to do so is a very delicate matter, and we’d normally wouldn’t agree of such a project.

But, and there is a very big ‘but’ here, one cannot simply ignore the reliability of the Toyota RAV4, regardless of when it came to life. So, if the owner of this crazy copycat takes good care of it, it is very possible that it will outlive any Urus. We’d suggest improving a few things and placating it, which shouldn’t be too hard for someone who dared craft all those body panels by hand – unless they had access to an advanced 3D printer.

Now, while certain people keep craving for a Lamborghini Urus of their own, the Italian automaker is in the process of giving the current one a mid-cycle refresh. We haven’t seen prototypes testing in the open for a few months now, but we reckon the official unveiling date shouldn’t be too far away. Reports have indicated that it might premiere early next year, launching in worldwide markets shortly after, and further elevating the brand’s sales.

The 2022 Lamborghini Urus will get the usual design revisions, sporting new front and rear bumpers, and head- and taillights. However, the biggest news is the alleged launch of the EVO variant, expected with a lighter construction and more power over the regular model. It is quite possible that the facelifted Urus family will be joined by an electrified derivative, presumably with a hybrid powertrain that could push out in excess of 800 hp.
