Slowly but surely, Audi is headed towards new design. No customer will be made to feel out of place by modernist interpretations of car shapes, but we are getting a new front end design.
Just a few weeks ago, the German automaker released initial sketches of for what we believe is the Q2 or Q1 crossover. It had a more accentuated trapezoidal grille and headlights that connect to it, something we see on the Q7 prototype.
This gives the front end a stronger, wider look without actually increasing the proportions of the car.
All this design work is molded around the latest Audi Space Frame architecture and that sits atop brand new Audi mills, including the 4.0-liter TFSI twin-turbo V8 available for the first time in this car. For years, the biggest Audi has lacked a real groundbreaking engine to rival BMW and Mercedes biturbo V8s.
