Last 2020 Corvette C8 Allegedly Going Top Down in Sebring Orange to a Customer

Chevrolet is just about ready for the switch to the 2021 model year of its popular C8 Corvette, and we all know that automakers cherish every chance they get of turning a car into a coveted collector’s item. As we all know, the first or last ‘Vettes of a model year and entire series have always been high up on the hunter’s trophy list.

As such, it comes as rather surprising to find out from corvetteblogger.com that GM’s final production unit for the 2020 model year of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette will reach a customer instead of a big bucks auction, a high-roller dealer, or even the company’s storage vaults.

Sure, many times, these collectible Corvettes turned out as big bonuses for charities, but it’s still refreshing to know that from time to time even the average owner gets this kind of perks. According to information allegedly provided by the Corvette Team, this troubled year was the main culprit for not doing anything special with the final example of the 2020 model year.

The unit, a 2020 C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible, is dressed up in the tasty Sebring Orange color and has been ordered through a New York dealer, coming off the line with VIN #19456. We have no information on the actual owner, but it’s certain this will be a rather exotic example.

That’s because we already know the final statistics for the 2020 model year, and sifting through the numbers shows that just 6.8% of total Corvette orders (including both Coupe and Convertible) were attributed to the Sebring Orange color. Out of those 1,377 examples, just 284 Sebring Orange ‘Vettes were of the Convertible variety!

Interestingly enough, while customers mostly loved the Torch Red (25% of the total) on their C8 Corvettes, the Sebring Orange hue is popular with the automaker itself. We’ve seen Chevrolet use it for many of the official launch photos of the C8 Convertible, and GM Canada’s charity auction of the first C8 and last C7 offered locally brought a team-up of the two hues.
