As we reported about a week ago, Ford decided to auction off the last retail 2014 Shelby GT500 with proceeds to benefit the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA). The sale took place last weekend at the inaugural Barrett-Jackson “Hot August Nights” auction in Nevada, with the drop-top musclecar selling for no less than $500,000.
The winning bidder, car collector Don Damon, will have the opportunity to choose from a number of options for his 2014 Shelby GT500, including the exterior color it will be delivered in. Also, the vehicle will be signed by famed race car driver Parnelli Jones, a devoted supporter of the Brain Injury Association of America.
Don Damon will take possession of its Shelby at the end of 2013, end production of the fifth-generation Mustang ends. The 2014 Shelby GT500 boasts 662 HP and can reach 60 mph from a standing start in less than four seconds.
