Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured Keeps You Away from Danger

Land Rover expands its range of factory-supported armored vehicles with the introduction of its new Discovery 4 Armored. The model replaces the outgoing Discovery 3 model, offering the same great off-road capability and level of protection, but an updated specification to keep up with the times.

The Discovery 4 Armored comes equipped with a more powerful 5.0-litre LR-V8 petrol engine, improved safety and a more luxurious interior. Although there are no visible differences between this and the standard model, the Discovery 4 Armored features ballistic steel amour and glazing in compliance with European standards.

Land Rover worked with Centigon to provide the Discovery 4 Armored with protection against 15kg TNT (or equivalent) detonated in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle and under floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades.

The base vehicle underwent extensive engineering changes to ensure optimum ride and handling performance, in spite of the added weight of the armor. Although the SUV weighs 3550 kg (7826 lbs) heavy duty 6-caliper front and 4-caliper rear Alcon disc brakes ensure the vehicle stops as well as the standard version. The wheels are wrapped in run flat Goodyear Wrangler HP All Weather Tires, ensuring a quick-getaway even if the tires are punctured.

The 5.0 liter LR-V8 direct-injection petrol engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to provide significantly faster acceleration than the old 2.7 liter V6, with 0-100km/h (62mph) achieved in just 10.6 seconds.

The quality of the interior materials has significantly improved compared to the previous model, featuring premium leather upholstery on the seats and wood insert finishing.
