Land Rover managed to impress us thoroughly with their DC100 Sport Concept in Frankfurt. We’ve seen quite a bit of criticism about the fact that this vehicle changes the idea behind the Defender, but this is to be expected, and the manufacturer has never really disappointed in the off-road department.
The DC100 Sport is a two-door, no roof version of the concept that previews the next generation Defender, which is coming in 2015.
Land Rover has talked at length about freedom, light weight and materials taken from the aerospace industry, and this is clearly evident in the concept’s attitude from the promotional video. The two-seater has permanent all-wheel drive, the latest 8-speed automatic box, Intelligent Start Stop and a transfer case, plus a 2.0-liter petrol engine at its disposal.
