Land Rover Continues to Grow in April

Land Rover has managed to maintain its sales momentum, as the company’s global sales registered a 29.7 percent growth last month, with the year to date statistics showing a 35.2 percent increase.

The automotive producer posted increased sales in almost all global markets. The best results were registered in the U.S. (up 34.6 percent to 2,749 units), China (up 124.8 percent, with over 2,000 units) and France, where the carmaker registered a 131.9 percent increase.

In the UK, Land Rover posted the eight month of improvement in April, as the automaker saw its sales rise by 54 percent last month, bringing its year to date statistics to a 61 percent expansion level.

"The investment in and the success of the latest 2010 model range, including comprehensive exterior, interior, powertrain and technology improvements, are integral to driving this momentum. Demand is, in fact, so strong that we have just announced 275 new jobs at the Company’s manufacturing plant in Solihull," said Phil Popham, Land Rover managing director.

Land Rover UK’s range currently includes the Defender, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover, all being manufactured at the company’s Solihull factory. The company is currently developing a new entry level model, which has been previewed by the LRX concept.

The vehicle should be unveiled later in the year, at the Paris Auto Show and enter production next year. The new product will be very important for Land Rover, as it will also feature a front wheel drive version (the company’s first ever two wheel drive vehicle), which will bring the company into a new segment.
