Land Rover Brings Home Its 2010 Range

Already deprived of the next year's British International Motor Show, following its cancelation by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the UK still has the 2009 London Motorexpo. Set to debut on June 8, the show will witness, for the first time in the UK, the 2010 model year of the Land Rover line-up.

We are extremely pleased to be returning to the London Motorexpo this year. It is well documented that our industry is experiencing extraordinary conditions at present but we must invest in the future and continue to market vehicles that are relevant, practical and above all desirable to our customers," John Edwards, the company's UK managing director said in a release.

Following the world premiere at the 2009 New York Auto Show, the 2010 Range Rover, the 2010 Range Rover Sport and Discovery 4 will attend the Canary Wharf event. Alongside them, the British manufacturer will bring along the Freelander 2 TD4_e, its range's most fuel efficient vehicle.

The first of the Freelander 2 TD4_e, completed on March 17 at the Jaguar Land Rover factory in Halewood, has become a milestone in SUV development. The car is the world's first SUV to make use of start-stop technologies. Already up for sale in the UK, the SUV promises an 8 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and fuel savings of up to 20 percent.

The Freelander 2 TD4_e will be available for test drives at the Motorexpo to demonstrate both its road capabilities as well as the off-road ones. The vehicle can be tested on the Terrapod, an indoor off-road course with obstacles made out of steel. The obstacles include hill descents and climbs together with wheel articulation and slippery surfaces so that it can mimic various terrain conditions.
