We had been waiting for Land Rover to come up with an announcement for the future of its Discovery and the Geneva Motor Show has brought us just that. The British company used the Swiss event to tell us that it is working on a family of Discovery models.
Land Rover has released the adjacent video, which teases the future Discovery, but didn’t offer us any information on the matter. Nonetheless, the silhouette shown here is pretty attractive, taking Land Rover’s rugged design one step further.
For instance, the raised roof section covering the third quarter of the SUV, a traditional Land Rover feature, now receives an important role in the car’s appearance. At the same time, the raked windshield brings a modern image and we also seem to be dealing with a raised hood that brings the required imposing part of the styling.
The teaser appears to show the Discovery replacement, as indicated by its roof profile and massive details. Land Rover did say that the production model is scheduled to arrive in 2015.
Nonetheless, numerous spy photos have revealed that the company is also working on a Freelander replacement, which we also expect to see included in the Discovery family.
Land Rover’s move will see the company have a nicely organized line-up, which will include three lines: the Range Rover family, the Discovery family, as well as the development that will replace the Defender, which was previewed by the DC-100 Concept.
Meanwhile, we’ve attached photos from Land Rover’s 2014 Geneva booth, showing the Discovery XXV and the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic.
