Land Rover Already Has 18,000 Evoque Orders

It’s smaller than a Range Rover, isn’t really suited for carrying a pack of hunting dogs or a riffle and it doesn’t look good next to a country estate. That’s exactly why we like the new Evoque so much, as its youthfulness has transformed the company’s image overnight.

It seems that we’re not the only ones who like the compact SUV, as Land Rover has reportedly already received 18,000 orders for the Evoque from the global marketplace. We suspect this because this is more one of those luxury lifestyle off-roaders that’s more suited to life at a high-street cafe than in the desert.

One week ago, the Evoque entered production in Liverpool, Great Britain. From there, it will be exported to over 170 countries around the world, including China and the US. According to Autocar, people in their 30s and 40s will make up most of the sales, and the carmaker is hoping for success in the family car segment as well.

"The Evoque is an incredibly exciting vehicle that joins a product range which across both of our brands is the strongest we have ever had – and it fits in perfectly," Jaguar Land Rover’s CEO, Ralph Speth, said. "The teams that have designed engineered and built the new Evoque, working together with our research and supplier partners, can be immensely proud of their achievement. Worldwide interest in our new car has been exceptional, with 18,000 customer orders received from customers eager to be among the first to own the new Range Rover. It is a groundbreaking product, a Range Rover with concept car looks, lightweight technologies and the capability to deliver 50mpg fuel economy."

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
