A fresh batch of test result were released today by the Euro NCAP safety body, and most of the vehicles tested did well, with the only exception being the Lancia Voyager, which only got four Euro NCAP stars, due in part to its pour pedestrian protection and only marginal to poor protection for both driver and passenger in case of a frontal impact.
Based on dummy readings in the frontal and side impact tests, the Voyager scored full points for protection of the 3 year old child, but the 18 month dummies did receive some damage in testing.
Despite being equipped with an active bonnet sensor that lifts it when a pedestrian is struck in order to keep him for hitting harder parts like the engine, the Voyager scored poorly in pedestrian protection due in part to the fact that most areas were to hard, especially in the area where the pelvis would hit.
