LaMelo Ball isn’t shy when it comes to showcasing his rides. He’s often seen driving something outlandish, or rather wrapped in a way that makes it stand out in a crowd of similar vehicles. His GMC Hummer EV is a perfect example of that.
Fun fact about his Hummer EV, it was wrapped to take after his Puma MB.01 signature basketball shoes, but worry not because he’s got tons of other hard-to-miss rides, such as his neon yellow Lamborghini Urus with the 1016 Industries widebody kit and 24” wheels, or his blacked-out Rolls-Royce Cullinan with the Novitec Overdose widebody kit and massive Vossen wheels.

It then makes perfect sense for a player that enjoys showing off his style to purchase a Tesla Cybertruck and wrap it in a very unique way.

LaMelo’s Cybertruck was customized by the folks over at Dreamworks Motorsports (same guys who worked on his Hummer EV), and it now comes with lots of upgrades and personal touches. The first thing that stands out is the hand-cut, multi-layer black chrome wrap with various textures, sheens and even some reflectivity – you can see (down below) how interesting it looks at night when hit by light.

Other highlights include the 3D hand-built two-tone emblems, refinished brake calipers, a suspension lowering package, a set of 26” Koko Kuture Sicily wheels with 35” off-road tires, a smoked lightning package, Suntek window tint, the player’s own logos (center caps, headrests, floor mats), plus multicolor LED lights under the body and fenders.

At first, I was going to get on his case about the wheels being too massive or the fact that there are way too many custom logos on the body, but those aren’t even the biggest issues here. The Cybertruck’s monolithic design was never meant to be disrupted – you can do that easily simply by fitting a custom wrap.

Elon Musk meant for the Cybertruck to be enjoyed as is, which is why Tesla initially only wanted to make it in one “color”, before turning around and offering some additional wrap colors for the stainless steel body panels.

As for what’s going on with LaMelo Ball on the basketball side of things, well, we haven’t heard much from him these past months because he’s missed most of the 2023-2024 NBA season with an injury. He played in just 22 games this past season, averaging 23.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg and 8.0 apg – pretty much identical to the prior year, when he only played in 36 games.

Is it too soon to call him injury-prone? Perhaps, but his NBA resume has taken a serious hit due to his unavailability. Hopefully he can bounce back, and the odds are certainly in his favor given how he’s still just 22 years old. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him and Brandon Miller on the court together for the Charlotte Hornets.
