Welcome to another episode from the Lamborghini Urus saga. Wait, don't tell us you forgot about Lamborghini's first-ever still-pending SUV.
Last time we heard about the Lambo Urus, the internet was spreading rumors related to the SUV's powertrain. More precisely, CEO Stephan Winkelmann hinted at the possibility of fitting the Urus with a turbocharged engine as well as a hybrid setup.

Surprising? Not at all, since the supercar market is not doing very well at the moment. However, it looks like the Urus project is not far from that. Recently, tensions in the Middle East and a growing fear of another economic setback made Lamborghini reconsider the Urus. However, they didn't cancel it.

Rumor had it the Lamborghini Urus SUV should arrive in 2017, but so far there's no sign of that happening. But here comes the Italian government to the rescue.

According to Bloomberg, the Italian government ran by Matteo Renzi is ready to offer Lamborghini Automobili SpA around 100 million euros ($111 million at current exchange rates) consisting of tax breaks and other benefits. However, there's a catch.

In return, Lamborghini must build a new assembly facility for the Urus on Italian soil, one that should inject some 300 jobs into Italy's already shaky economy due to high unemployment rates.

Although Lamborghini presented a prototype meant to forecast the production-ready Urus back in 2012, in the last year carmakers like Aston Martin and Bentley jumped the SUV bandwagon with cars like DBX and Bentayga.

There's always room for one more player, but Lamborghini officials don't say whether Urus will be approved for production or not. But considering the aid given by the Italian government, the SUV might show its face in 2017 or 2018.
