Because there’s still a little bit of time before the Sant'Agata Bolognese-based exotic sports car manufacturer officially introduces the 2022 Lamborghini Urus Evo, the super-SUV can indulge in a little vacation. And since we’re dealing with an automobile, embarking on a road trip sounds like the logical thing to do.
The Italian automaker just completed the “Unlock Any Road Japan” project, an idea that saw the Urus travel across the Land of the Rising Sun on an enveloping route of more than 6,500 km (almost 4,040 miles). The endeavor started way back on April 26th in Fukuoka and wasn’t complete until May 23rd as the 17 different stages eventually took the SUV to the nation’s capital of Tokyo.
It was a relay-style drive that naturally involved an eclectic mix of local car, fashion, and lifestyle media representatives, with everyone having the chance to sample one of two bespoke Urus that were personalized specifically for this occasion.
The Lamborghini Centro Stile design department took charge of the customization process and dressed up the Urus couple in a Giallo Inti Pearl Capsule specification or as a Blu Astraeus. Basically, it’s Lambo’s way of saying they’re fancy versions of yellow and blue, but don’t let us spoil the fun of calling them out loud with a (fake, “Inglourious Basterds”-style) Italian accent.
On the other hand, we can bet the scenery was very much worthwhile. That’s because the two Urus high-performance SUVs visited cool landmarks and landscapes such as the Miyajidake Shrine (Fukuoka), the Atomic Bomb Dome (Hiroshima), Flower Park Urashima, or the 12,300-meter (7.6-mile) Great Seto Bridge.
And that wasn’t all, because the Urus also enjoyed the ocean, the Himeji Castle, the secluded Juni Falls and even the off-road trail of Nara Trial Mountain to showcase its 4x4 prowess before reaching Japan’s biggest lake (Biwa) and traditional places such as the Shirakawa-go Village and the Higashi Chaya District.
